Christine & Julie
FashionHungry had the opportunity to interview both Julie and Christine about their personal fashion sense and style choices. Here’s what they had to say:
FashionHungry’s Style Profile:
Describe your individual style?
Julie: A) My individual style is comfortable unique chic. I tend to pick out stand out pieces, I always accessorize, and I like to look and feel comfortable in all my outfits whether it’s at a party, going to work, travelling, or walking around on the weekends.
Christine: A) It varies from day-to-day and place-to-place. At work I walk the line of modern prep as my office is more conservative but evenings and weekends I prefer to follow trends.
Who are some of your favourite designers?
Julie: A) I’m definitely not a designer kind of person. I’m all about budget style and I love going to cheap and chic stores as well as vintage stores. But if someone gave me a shopping spree, I would buy items from Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Chanel.
Christine: A) All over the place! Marc Jacobs, Celine, Mui Mui, Dries Van Noten, Phillip Lim, Acne, Missoni.
What brands do you most often wear?
Julie: A) I’m all over the map with my wardrobe – I wear clothes from H&M, Zara, Winners, Forever 21, and I also wear a lot of stuff that used to be my mom’s or grandma’s (mainly accessories).
Christine: A) H&M, Zara, Rachel Rachel Roy, Kensie, Club Monaco.
What are your favourite materials and fabrics to wear?
Julie: A) I like wearing stretchy denim, ruffles, frills, and bows!
Christine: A) I am most comfortable in natural fibers. Cotton and silk in the summer and wool and cashmere in the winter. I do love prints however, so I will compromise fabrics for prints!
What is your favourite fashion accessory?
Julie: A) Belts of all sorts!
Christine: A) Are shoes considered accessories? I never feel guilty about buying new shoes.
What is your favourite fashion trend of all time?
Julie: A) The party dress.
Christine: A) Miniskirts!!
What fashion trend are you currently loving?
Julie: A) I love pleated pants with a high waist.
Christine: A) Skinny jeans!!
In your opinion, what is the biggest fashion no no?
Julie: A) There’s nothing worse than a girl dressed to the nines looking uncomfortable. If your clothes are too tight it looks bad! If you can’t stand in her heels – it looks terrible! Dress according to your body type and what you feel comfortable in.
Christine: A) Never say never. I have had a list of no-nos in my day but Ive learned to keep my mouth shut as everything seems to come back. I will say that people jumping on the hipster train and wearing non-prescription glasses drives me crazy.
What do you think is a fashion must?
Julie: A) Gorgeous high heels that you can walk in for longer than 3 hours at a time.
Christine: A) Taking risks is a fashion must.
In the future would you consider designing your own line or owning your own store?
Julie: A) I would love to own my own vintage store.
Christine: A) Not interested in my own line. I will leave that to the professionals!
