Designer Spotlight: Fikirte Addis Wins African Competition
The Hub of Africa Fashion Week in Addis Ababa, showcased various collections in accessories, clothing, and footwear from emerging local designers who traveled from several African countries. For many Ethiopians abroad or near, the standards for Hub of Africa Fashion Week is set high because of the many talented designers like Fikirte Addis. On March 16 through 18, she won a design competition at Origin Africa Fiber to Fashion held in Mauritius. The competition’s main purpose was to bring comfort and practicality. This is a usual complaint by Ethiopians, in which, they believe their traditional cloths lack those aspects. But Fikirte Addis was able to show that their was comfort and practicality within their fabric.
