Don’t Miss: Paws for the Cause!

by Sabrina Maddeaux on Oct 26th, 2010 in Events

On Thursday, October 28th stylish party animals and actual furry animals will unite to stage Paws for a Cause, a fabulous non-profit event benefiting the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).  The OSPCA is one of the nation’s largest and most responsive animal welfare organizations. It relies on donations to run its operations (providing care and shelter to TENS OF THOUSANDS of cute, wide-eyed animals every year), so this is one event you really want to support!

Images from the Petorialist Campaign

Rallying Toronto’s pet and fashion communities, Paws for a Cause will feature a dog fashion show and a photo campaign inspired by the iconic images of The Sartorialist. Ten adorable dog models will strut their stuff on the catwalk (puppywalk?), paired with celebrity dog walkers decked out in F/W 2010 looks by great Canadian designers. The dogs will also be sporting one-of-a-kind dog outfits by designers such as Ashley Rowe, Beckerman, Joeffer, Caoc, Jules Power, Philip Sparks, Roots, Shared Design Collective, Tavan Mitto, Rita Liefhebber, and Moon. With that much brilliant design talent dressing them, I’m surely not the only one jealous of these canine fashionistas!

The event will be held at the Red Bull 381 Projects (381 Queen St. W # 200), which is a fantastic venue. I’ve never been to a less-than-awesome event there! Buy your tickets online at http://pawsforthecause.eventbrite.com

But wait- that’s not all! I would be doing you a disservice not to mention the Petorialist Photo Campaign and Contest, inspired by Scott Schuman’s iconic street style blog.

Presented by Olympus, the photo series, shot by photographers Ryan Enn Hughes and Ian Worang, stars stylish Torontonians with their beloved pets. Check it out here. The tenth and final campaign image will be announced at the event as part of a photo contest on the official Paws for the Cause Facebook fan page (facebook.com/PawsForTheCause).  The submission deadline has passed, but you can still vote for your favorite finalist! The photo with the most “likes” will win!
