Ribbon Belts.
Men don’t often pay much attention to belts and what they can do as an accessory. Although they are usually considered as an essential piece of menswear, not a lot of men are experimenting with it (in the right way). Belts, like another piece of clothing — is also classified as casual, semi-casual, semi-dressy, dressy, and a statement piece. So when putting a look together, belts are NOT just there to hold up your trousers/pants/jeans, they are also there to contribute to the overall look and feel of the outfit. Ribbon belts are in the “casual to semi-dressy’ category, and they are best worn with khakis and jeans (jeans are usually casual to semi-dressy and khakis are usually on the semi-casual and semi-dressy category THEREFORE you have a match). I don’t usually recommend dress trousers with ribbon belts but I have done it before, and it worked out well —Read More

Izabela Stabinska – Toronto Designer
Izabela Stabinska is new to Toronto. After graduating from Fashion Design program at West Valley College in California two years ago, she decided to take a one-year-long vacation in Europe. That was an incredibly rich experience abounded with multi-cultural interaction, art diversity, and distinct beauty of countless places from East to West. Packing few of her own designs in the suitcase, she kept in mind what San Francisco-based designer Joseph S. Domingo (with whom she’d had an internship) once told her: “You have to wear your own clothes to see how they feel, only then you can be sure about the quality of your designs”. She ended up not only wearing them, but also lending the clothes to her friens, and eventually, organizing couple photo sessions in incredibly picturesque surroundings of Eastern Europe. Izabela’s design philosophy is simple: “Show who you are”. She puts emphasis on individual style and makesRead More
Designer Insider: Stefanie Bezaire
As a woman who had worn a size 12 since her youth, Stefanie Bezaire understands the need for fashion forward plus-size apparel. All ladies deserve cute and stylish clothing and Stefanie works with resolve to create apparel for women just like her; women who have always been disheartened with the plus size options available. The beginnings were modest (in a little town called Windsor, Ontario), where Stefanie created for friends and family, designing and sewing up a frenzy, waiting for the bigger and better opportunities to come. After graduating from Ryerson University with a Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design, she worked in a number of different creative positions before finally coming back to what has interested her all along, designing for the plus sized woman. Happy Birthday Bikini
Yesterday marked the 64Th birthday of the classic two piece bikini. It was on July 5Th, 1946 that French designer Louis Reard unveiled the sexy two-piece swimsuit at the Piscine Molitor pool in Paris, France. To date, it is the most popular form of swimwear found on beaches worldwide. French fashion historian Olivier Saillard sites that this is due to “the power of women, and not the power of fashion”. xoxo Sharlene Voronica Fashion Publicist Take a look at some of the hottest bikinis for summer 2010. Flower Power
We first started noticing floral prints in the early spring of this year and it has definitely made its mark once again in the summer of 2010. Floral pieces are absolutely huge this season. We are seeing an array of bright and colourful floral patterns on many skirts, dresses, tops and in some cases handbags and shoes. Choosing the perfect floral print for your body type is key to looking stylish rather than looking like you borrowed a piece from your grandmothers closet. Generally the rule of thumb is as follows; the majority of flowers on a single piece should be proportional to the size of your hand. You want to avoid looking over powered by the pattern. Especially if you are on the petite side. Nothing looks worse than an outfit that wears you instead of you wearing it. Another great tip to keep your floral ensembles looking chic and stylish is to neverRead More
Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen S/S11
After being given HUGE shoes to fill, Sarah Burton (Lee McQueen’s long time head of design), continues the legacy that the great late designer left behind. Her first collection for the line showed drama and fantasy that even McQueen himself would be proud of. Photo Credits: GQ.com / View Full Collection The collection was not your typical one as it was done as a tribute to McQueen and his works, which explains its lack of consistency; hence the incoherent choice of fabrics, the contradicting silhouettes, and the piece-y patterns and prints. Most of the pieces were the usual McQueen looks that I’ve always loved. My favorite pieces were the dramatic floral coat and the smoked-sheen blazer as they evoked fantasy and elegance. Of course, the collection is not without fault. I personally did not like the loose fitting trouser with huge pockets on the sides (or any of the pocketedRead More
